Thunderbird Petroleum Products, LLC recently received a message from Chuck Clapper (from Stratton, CO) that he had a tractor that uses no oil, and has over 26,400 hours on the engine.
Because probably less than 10% of Agricultural tractors see 10,000 hours without a major rebuild, this number of hours bordered on the unbelievable.
We called Mr. Clapper to get the details. Chuck and his brother, Jerry, both purchased 200 h.p. 4955 JD tractors in 1988 and both have been on Dyna-Plex 15w40 since purchased new. Jerry Clapper's tractor has over 23,000 hours and Chuck's over 26,400 hours.
The bottom line of this is that both tractors have avoided what normally would have been one and likely two major rebuilds. Therefore, the net cost of the Dyna-Plex is less than zero.
The Clapper brothers are to be commended for what obviously has been a very good job of maintenance of these tractors.
