Recently, the OEM, Caterpillar, improved its hydraulic oil. The new fluid, Cat HYDO(TM) Advanced, offers an improvement in drain interval length and hydraulic system component protection. The improvements are focused on catching up with the latest technological advances of hydraulic systems.
Universal Lubricants has reformulated the HP Hydraulic Oil to resemble the new Cat hydraulic oil. Cat HYDO(TM) Advanced and HP Hydraulic Oil were analyzed to determine additive levels and types, viscosity characteristics, and low temperature flow properties. The data is summarized below:

The two fluids look very similar, and, as the hydraulic oil has developed into an anti-wear package instead of a detergent and dispersant package, a fully functional ashless dispersant has been added to maintain the oil's ability to emulsify water and suspend contaminants.
The high quality additive package utilized has been in Universal's product lines for many years. The new HP Hydraulic Oil will be an excellent fit for the additive system and will provide outstanding performance to all Cat hydraulic systems.
